“Sean Combs: The Reckoning,” a four-part documentary about the Bad Boy Records founder’s rise from music mogul to career fall, is set to make its network debut this week.Produced by longtime rival Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, the highly anticipated series will premiere on Netflix on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The new project comes after the fallout of the rapper-producer’s conviction over his federal prostitution charges, which resulted in a 50-month prison sentence.
The documentary was, in part, inspired by his ex-girlfriend, Casandra Fine Ventura, the filmmaker Alexandria Stapleton said in a news release. The singer, popularly known as Cassie, filed a sexual assault lawsuit against him in November 2023.

“This isn’t just about the story of Sean Combs or the story of Cassie, or the story of any of the victims, or the allegations against him, or the trial,” Stapleton said.
“Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal. I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.”

According to Netflix, the docu-series will include never-before-seen footage and exclusive interviews with people who were formerly in Comb’s inner circle, who speak on how, throughout his journey, “something darker began to color his ambitions.”
In a statement, Jackson said that he’s “committed to real storytelling for years through G-Unit Film and Television.”

“I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen,” he continued.
The project’s first teaser features the voice of ex-Bad Boy rapper Mark Curry, per the news release. Curry is known for his contribution to Diddy’s hit song “Bad Boy For Life” and has been vocal in the criticism of his former collaborator.
“You can’t continue to keep hurting people, and nothing ever happens,” the voice in the teaser says. “It’s just a matter of time.”
When is Diddy’s release date?

Combs is set to be released from federal prison on May 8, 2028, after serving 50 months in custody, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ online database. That date is likely to change as he serves his sentence.
Combs’ lawyers previously tried and failed to get the judge to either overturn his conviction or grant him a new trial.
